Rocky Mountain Tour - Parents Edition

In typical Faller-family fashion, this post contains links to many many pictures. We tend to take a lot. ;)

We had a fabulous weekend. My parents flew in on Thursday evening and stayed through Sunday night. Friday, I showed my parents around downtown Boulder. Click here to see pictures of our stroll down Pearl Street.

On Saturday, the four of us toured the Rockies by driving up Boulder Canyon to Nederland, and then we took Peak to Peak Highway North. Along the way, we stopped at the trailhead for Brainard Lake (which typically you can drive through in the summer, but it's closed until the snow melts).

After that, we stopped at Peacefull Valley Ranch in the mountains between Lyons and Estes Park to show my parents a wedding venue we're considering. Peaceful Valley is an authentic dude ranch, with a beautiful mountain top ceremony site overlooking the Continental Divide.

From there, we drove to Lily Lake, and then into Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park. We had quite the variety of weather conditions ...from overcast and windy, to light fluffy snow, and deceptively sunny skies. We were happy my parents could experience it all, and they soon saw why it's so important to check the weather every day! Click here to see pictures of our Rocky Mountain Tour.

M&D, thanks for making the trip out! We had a blast with you guys and are looking forward to the next visit. (Note, the above links contain some pictures taken by my dad on his camera...like father, like daughter.)
Home Sweet Home

It's finally starting to feel like home. We've unpacked all our boxes (at least those visible to guests) and all our art is up...and just in time for Laura's parents visit this past weekend! We're really loving this little house.

Lafayette to Niwot Bike Ride

Just a few scenic shots from our Lafayette to Niwot/Gunbarrel bike ride last weekend (Sat, April 19). We started from our home and rode to Teller Farm, then continued on East Boulder Trail to to the White Rocks, and then to the Gunbarrel Farm and water tower, and then back home. Heading home, Ken got a flat...but luckily we didn't have far to go at that point. Click here to see a few shots from our ride.
Wow!!

To follow on Ken's post, make that a swing of 50 degrees with temperatures starting to approach 30...and it could be as low as the teens here tonight. That would mean a swing of 65 degrees. This is awesome!! Although, it can't beat Jeff's story of the time Colorado Springs had a swing of 90 degrees in two days (70 degrees and two days later it dropped to -20).

Also, the nearby mountains could get a foot of snow tonight. Gotta love it. Here are a few shots of the aftermath: click here.

Erratic weather

Yesterday the high here was almost 80. Today? It's 45 with snow showers, and we're expecting 3-5 inches of snow tonight!

For the math challenged ... that's a 35 degree temperature swing. Pretty nuts! You definitely have to check the forecast here before heading out the door. You never know what you're going to get! :-)

This past Saturday, Ken and I went trekking up and around Eldorado Canyon Sate Park. Check out some of our pictures by clicking here.

My personal favorite is the one of Ken...err, Karate Kid. Wax on, wax off?

Enjoy!

We're loving it here...and we've only just begun to explore our surroundings. In an attempt not to duplicate efforts by writing this post and sending a link to photos, I thought I would combine the two. For your viewing pleasure, please click on the link below for 54 shots highlighting the fun times we've had over the last week and a half. Also, be sure to watch the slideshow and read the comments on the pictures to know what you're looking at. (Probably half of the pictures have comments.)

Here's a teaser...we're standing in front of Boulder Falls.
